KNOX COUNTY -- An early morning crash Saturday killed one person and injured two additional people in Knox County where a vehicle struck a utility pole, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reports.
A passenger in the car, Tyler J. Schlairet, 34, of Howard was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene along State Route 229 near milepost 7 in Clinton Township, the patrol said.
Aaron Bolton, 31, of Mount Vernon was operating a 2013 Ford Focus westbound on State Route 229 about 4:28 a.m., the patrol said.

Bolton was thrown from the vehicle as a result of the crash. He was transported from the scene by Mount Vernon Fire/EMS to Knox Community Hospital and later flown to Grant Medical Center in Columbus with life-threatening injuries, the patrol said.
A second passenger, Landon M. Miller, 19, was transported to Knox Community Hospital and later to Grant with serious injuries, the patrol said.
None of the occupants wore seatbelts, the patrol said.
The crash remains under investigation by the patrol’s Mount Gilead post.
