1 dead in Knox County as pickup collides with utility poles
KNOX COUNTY — A pickup truck left a roadway while rounding a curve and struck several utility poles early Monday in Clinton Township, resulting in fatal injuries to a front-seat passenger, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reports.
Zachary White, 32, of Centerburg, Ohio, was transported from the scene by Mount Vernon Fire/EMS to Knox Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the patrol said via news release.
The driver of the 2016 Ram 3500, identified by authorities as Ryan Carlisle, 35, of Centerburg received minor injuries and was taken to Knox Community Hospital.
The crash occurred at 12:51 a.m. on State Route 229 near milepost 7 in Clinton Township in Knox County.
The pickup was heading west on State Route 229 when it reached the curve, went off the right side of the roadway, and struck the utility poles, the patrol reports.
The crash remains under investigation by the patrol’s Mount Gilead post.
Assisting the patrol at the scene were the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Mount Vernon Police Department, and Mount Vernon Fire/EMS.
