100 years of Shelby Cycle features a weekend of wheels, history, fun
During Bicycle Days, Shelby is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Shelby Cycle Company with a weekend full of bikes, history, and hometown pride on July 11–12, organizers announced.
In addition to the popular Shelby Bicycle Days festivities, special events announced in the news release include:
Shelby Cycle Company 100th Anniversary Celebration
Friday, July 11 at 6 p.m. | Shelby Bicycle Museum, 31 Mack Ave.
Kick off the celebration with refreshments and rare bike displays — including Clarence “Whippet” Wagner’s 1927 cross-country ride.
Shelby Bicycle Museum Open House
July 11: 6–9 p.m. | July 12: 10 a.m.–8 p.m.
View dozens of Shelby bicycles, including a rare 1923/24 Shelby frame, a Shelby Beauty exercise bike, six Donald Duck bikes, and more. A special photo exhibit by Wisconsin collector Tori Kolonich will also be featured.
Shelby Steel & Wheel Tour
Saturday, July 12 at 10 a.m.
Join a fun, slow-paced bicycle tour to 10 historic Shelby locations highlighting the industries and people who built Shelby. Vintage bikes are welcome but not required! Sign will be displayed all weekend for bicycle and auto tours. Find the route on shelbycyclehistory.org
Historic Bicycle Photo Recreation

Help recreate a 1920s Shelby bicycle photo. All bikes are welcome — any condition.
Shelby Bicycle Parade
Saturday, July 12 at 2 p.m.
Cheer on vintage Shelbys and meet collectors after the parade at the museum.
Bobby Shelby History Hunt — Kids’ Event
Join the Bobby Shelby History Hunt and become a Shelby History Hero! The Bobby Shelby History Hunt is a free, family-friendly adventure designed to make history fun.
Pick up a History Hunt sheet at the Shelby Justice Center, Marvin Memorial Library, Little Shops of Shelby, Shelby Thrift Store or The Fan Cave. Hunt for the answers on window clings at local businesses, murals at the Shelby Bicycle Museum (inside the Justice Center) or on shelbycyclehistory.org to solve eight fun questions.
Return the completed sheet to the Shelby Bicycle Museum during open house hours for a fun prize.
