GALION — Galion Pointe Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation plans to permanently close its facility at 925 Wagner Ave. about July 1, eliminating 60 jobs, a WARN notice filed Thursday shows.
The facility is shutting down entirely, and all staff will be affected by the layoffs that day, the document from JAG Healthcare/Galion Pointe on file with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services shows.
"The complete facility is closing, and it is expected to be permanent," states the document signed by an administrator with the JAG Healthcare/Galion Pointe.
No reason was cited for the closure, and no information is available on where existing residents will be cared for afterward.
A message seeking additional information was left Friday morning.
Employees losing their jobs include a total of 19 CNA (certified nurse aides) and care managers, 15 nursing staff, and seven each in therapy, dietary, and supervisory roles. Four housekeeping and laundry workers and one activities staff member are also included.
All employees at the facility in Crawford County, including union workers, are being notified.
On its website, JAG Healthcare describes itself as an "integrated health care provider dedicated to serving small communities throughout the state of Ohio."
These include locations such as Shelby and Mansfield.
"The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act helps ensure advance notice in cases of qualified plant closings and mass layoffs," the U.S. Department of Labor reports.
