On Oct. 9, Shelby Firefighters Local 2491 announced that Rescue 38 has been upgraded with a newly acquired squad vehicle from Madison Township Fire Department.
This addition expands Shelby’s fleet of ALS (Advanced Life Support) ambulances, now totaling three units to better serve the community, as of Oct. 1.
Shelby Fire took on additional EMS responsibilities starting in October 2022 when a private ambulance service unexpectedly ended its service to the Shelby. That meant Shelby Fire needed to take on all EMS transports. Jackson and Sharon townships also are served by Shelby Fire through contracted service.
