Big rig strikes median, rolls over, hits culvert in Ashland County injury crash
Portion of highway closed 4.5 hours
ASHLAND COUNTY -- A 2019 Freightliner truck and trailer traveled off the north side of U.S. 30's eastbound travel lanes, struck the center median, rolled over, striking a culvert and roadway signs before stopping in the westbound lanes and center median, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 7:34 p.m Sunday on U.S. 30 near Mohican Township Road 405, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said on Monday.
The driver was identified as Dwayne Glazier, 61, of Keller, Texas, authorities said.
Glazier was freed from the truck and transported by Jeromesville Fire Department to UH Ashland Samaritan Hospital, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said early Monday.
He was later transported to OhioHealth Medical Center in Mansfield, Ohio with serious injuries.
U.S. 30 westbound travel lanes between State Route 89 and Township Road 405 were closed for approximately 4 and a half hours.
The state patrol was assisted on-scene by the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, Jeromesville Fire Department, Hayesville Fire Department, Ashland County Emergency Management Agency, the Ohio Department of Transportation, Aber’s Towing & Crane Service of Ashland, Ohio, and Hook-N-Haul Recovery Repair Towing & Transport of Litchfield, Ohio.
The crash remains under investigation.
