'Christmas in July Cleaning Supply Drive' set for Shelby
The inaugural Christmas in July Cleaning Supply Drive is set for Sunday, July 13 at the Shelby YMCA from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., organizers announced.
The event, open to the community for donations, will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities Central Ohio.
Suggested items include brooms, dustpans, Swiffers and pads, paper towels, Lysol spray and wipes, toilet bowl cleaner, all-purpose cleaner, toilet bowl brushes and plungers, laundry baskets, laundry soap (free and clear), Bounce dryer sheets (free and gentle, fragrance-free), Dawn dish soap and trash bags, per the announcement provided via social media.
Organizers will have a truck and trailer on site to collect donated cleaning supplies.
The drive also honors Houston Lee Allenbaugh's second birthday. The youngster was born prematurely at 27 weeks and four days due to HELLP Syndrome, the announcement said. He is the son of event organizer Lexi Surgener.
Refreshments, including snow cones and coffee/lemonade, will be available for purchase. The event will also feature a balloon arch, a food truck, and surprise guests.
"As the (Ronald McDonald House) relies heavily on donations, I look forward to seeing you all on July 13 at the Shelby YMCA," Surgener posted.
