Jackson Township trustees OK zoning permit, reports at busy session
Proposed sewer line connection also presented
JACKSON TOWNSHIP — Trustees approved the adoption of a utility permit and were presented information involving a proposed sewer line connection during their most recent session at the township building.
Trustees' Chairman Mark Wright and trustees Kevin Alt and Randy Boyce were present, among others. The April 1 meeting was documented thoroughly in the official meeting minutes, which serve as a detailed record of the township’s operational and financial decisions.
The trustees approved the adoption of the utility permit for zoning use, using a version from the Richland County Engineer’s website. The permit fee was set at $225 for industrial and commercial applicants.
In other action, the board discussed a proposal by GB Fabrication to install a 2-inch sewer line from its Taylortown Road facility to State Route 39. Scott Shafer from GB Fabrication talked to the trustees and zoning inspector about the proposal.
During a public input portion of the meeting, resident Brett Heffner mentioned that GB Fabrication wanting to run this sewer line and tie into the city sewer would be considered a public utility and not a private one.
In other business, Resolution 2025-21, which would have updated work hours and holiday observances in the employee handbook, failed due to the lack of a second.
Trustees received and approved special reports involving zoning and roads.
Zoning activity reported included the approval of a permit for a home addition at 3350 Springmill North Road, discussions on three sign replacements at BlueScope, and coordination with two property owners on proposed lot splits for a possible new construction project.
The board also reviewed road maintenance updates.
Township crews recently removed snow equipment and installed a boom mower, replaced flails, repaired a mower bearing, and cleared tree limbs from local roads.
This included removing both a leaning tree off Taylortown Road and a small tree limb over Stein Road.
Preparations were also made with Kurtzman Sanitation for the township’s Spring Cleanup, an annual special event. Jackson Township spring cleanup dates are set from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 25 and from 8 a.m. to noon on April 26.
The fund status and receipt reports were presented and approved following a motion by Boyce, seconded by Wright.
Financial matters handled included the approval of vouchers numbered 23333 and 23334.
