Jeep driver thrown from vehicle in Ashland County crash along I-71
ASHLAND COUNTY -- A Jeep Wrangler traveling Sunday night along I-71 in Montgomery Township struck the median cable barrier and overturned, killing the driver, who was thrown from the vehicle in the crash, authorities said.
William Justin Anderson, 50, of Jonesboro, Ark., was pronounced dead at the scene, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported on Monday. He was not wearing a seat belt.
The crash was reported about 9:19 p.m. about 20 miles south of New London.
The 1997 Wrangler was northbound on I-71 when it went off the left side of the roadway into the median.
The crash remained under investigation Monday by the patrol’s Ashland post.
The left lane of I-71 northbound was closed for approximately one hour in the aftermath of the crash.
State troopers were assisted at the scene by Ashland Fire and EMS and Bates Towing.
