Juvenile bald eagles rescued, released in Ohio
Two juvenile bald eagles were rescued and rehabilitated in Cuyahoga County after their nest, located near Euclid Creek Reservation, was destroyed by a windstorm, the Ohio Division of Wildlife reports.
State Wildlife Officer Michael Greer responded to a report of a young eagle unable to fly in a backyard near the reservation, a recently provided report shows.
"Officer Greer safely captured the young eagle and transported it to the Lake Erie Nature and Science Center for evaluation," the report states.
The following day, a second juvenile eagle was found and rescued in the same area.
"It was determined that the eagles originated from a nest which had blown down after a windstorm, and the site was abandoned by the parent eagles," the state wildlife division states.
After receiving immediate care at the Lake Erie Nature and Science Center in Bay Village, Ohio, the young eagles were transferred to Back to the Wild, a wildlife rehabilitation facility in Castalia.
"The two young eagles were successfully fostered by resident eagles and released into the wild," the report adds.
