Motorcyclist dies in Wood County crash
WOOD COUNTY -- A 67-year-old Wayne, Ohio, man died early Wednesday morning when his southbound motorcycle traveled off the roadway and into a ditch, overturning multiple times, the Wood County Sheriff’s Office reported.
William M. Szymanski, 67, was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash of his 1996 Harley-Davidson motorcycle on State Route 199, the sheriff’s office said.
The investigation indicates the motorcycle crossed the centerline and off the roadway, then into a ditch.
The Wood County Sheriff’s Communications Center received a 911 emergency call at 12:01 a.m. regarding the incident, which occurred in the 15000 block of State Route 199.
Pemberville-Freedom Fire and EMS assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office.
