Motorist, 82, hurt in crash with big rig in Erie County
ERIE COUNTY -- A small SUV crossed the center line, sideswiped a big rig and ended up in a field Tuesday along U.S. 6, authorities report.
The crash occurred about 2:37 p.m. in Margaretta Township, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said via news release.
Joyce McIntyre, age 82, of Castalia, Ohio, who was driving a 2018 Jeep Compass, was transported by Margaretta Township EMS to Firelands Hospital in stable condition, the patrol said. She was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol added.
Frank Jackson, age 45, of Hogansville, Georgia, who was driving a 2023 Freightliner Cascadia, was not injured, authorities said.
The Compass was traveling west on U.S. 6 and the Freightliner Cascadia was heading east.
The crash remains under investigation.
Erie County Sheriff’s Office, Margaretta Township Fire and EMS and Foster’s Towing assisted the patrol on scene.
