NORWALK — A benefit pancake breakfast honoring the memory of fallen firefighter John Saunders will be held Sunday, May 18, at the Norwalk Eagles Aerie #711, 151 Cline St., organizers announced.
The event will run from 8 a.m. to noon and is open to the public, the Tri Community Joint Fire Department announced.
Firefighter Saunders, 41, died in the line of duty on April 17 when he responded to the scene of a house fire east of Willard. He was a member of the Greenwich-based Tri Community department.
"We're asking everyone who finds themselves hungry this Sunday morning to make their way to the Norwalk Eagles to honor our fallen brother, John Saunders and support his family," the department said in its official post Monday evening.
The breakfast aims to honor Saunders’ service and support for his family.
Admission is $10 per person, with a $5 rate for children under age 5. The menu includes an omelet station, pancakes, sausage, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, fruit, coffee and juice.
Organizers are encouraging the public to “come hungry, leave grateful” as they pay tribute to Saunders’ legacy.
