People gathered in downtown Shelby on Saturday as part of the nationwide “No Kings Day” protest event against the Trump administration.
The Shelby protest was in the Black Fork Commons area along West Main Street. Preliminary crowd estimates varied. An initial crowd size was 50 to 60. Later, Pastor James Robinson of Shelby said he counted 141 people when those standing behind others or away from the road were included.
Video of the Shelby protest was also posted to social media, where additional reactions were playing out. Similar events were taking place around Ohio.

No problems involving the Shelby event were reported by city police.
The nationwide event coincided with a military parade in Washington, D.C., marking the 250th birthday of the Army.
In Washington, D.C., the Army Birthday Festival began at 11 a.m. Saturday at the National Mall, the Army said via official news release. The Washington event was being livestreamed on U.S. Army social media platforms in addition to media outlets.
