Here's an early look at the 2025 Grand March on Saturday evening -- an opening tradition at the Shelby High School prom, one of the most anticipated nights of the year.
A spring rain had moved the annual procession indoors at the Kehoe Center where community members gathered to take in the moment.
Families and friends stood just steps away, smartphones and cameras in hand, capturing the moment as the students were introduced and posed for photos.
With chilly weather conditions, the prom goers arrived at the Kehoe Center in an assortment of classic cars including Mustangs, a Corvette, Camaro and other vehicles including a Cybertruck an Cadillac Escalade limousine.
Because of rain, students were able to pull their vehicles into the overhang area outside of the entrance area. They were greeted by longtime Shelby High School Principal John Gies as they prepared to enter the building. Assistant Principal Troy Schwemley directed traffic while district staff, including Assistant Superintendent Paul Walker, served as valets, parking the vehicles.
Students from Galion were in attendance to help take photos for the Shelby yearbook staff attending the prom.
The after prom schedule included a 10:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. special event at Shelby High School. That event featured tacos, ice cream, pizza, beverages, inflatables, and other games, plus a performance by magician Rick Smith.
