EARLIER UPDATE:
Shelby parks Superintendent Jerry Marshall reports progress toward the 2025 opening of the Seltzer municipal swimming pool, which had to go undergo unexpected repairs that delayed its season debut.
The repairs are complete and if things go right, an inspection was planned for Tuesday, June 10, Marshall told Shelby's Board of Park Commissioners on Monday evening.
An announcement on the pool’s opening date was not official as of that time, pending the inspection.

Astro Pool plugged the hole with a special cement and welded seams that had the potential to leak, Marshall said in his separate written report dated June 2 when Seltzer pool was "in the recovery mode" on the path toward "getting back up and running."
"We have recovered I think back to normal," he said Monday night.
The pool was nearing its opening in May when the trouble was discovered.
"We filled the main pool, added chemicals to balance water and then we had a leakage problem and had to drain," Marshall reported. "Upon draining we found a piece of caulk and concrete had let loose leaving a hole."
Cool weather conditions and rain earlier in the spring had already pushed back the opening of the pool and similarly affected other similar municipal swimming pools around the region into this week.
Separate and unrelated problems are reported involving water pump issues at Black Fork Commons in downtown Shelby, the location of a splashpad/fountains. A contractor was contacted.
