Shelby City Councilman Nathan Martin extended Easter greetings to community members during remarks at the most recent council session.
He encouraged reflection on the season's meaning and the importance of time with loved ones.
Easter, which is April 20, comes later than usual this year, Martin said, noting the time between meetings.
“The next time that we meet is on the 21st, so it will be after Easter,” he said on April 7.. “I do want to wish everyone a happy Easter."
There are a couple of seasons where the reason for the season is evident, Martin said. "And this is another one of those where we all reflect on one of the greatest gifts given to all mankind," he added.
He wished residents a joyful celebration.

“Hope you’re able to celebrate with your loved ones during that time, and it gives a new meaning and purpose to why we do what we do. So, happy Easter, everyone,” Martin said.
The council’s next scheduled meeting is April 21.
Did Councilmember Martin extend Passover greetings to the greater Shelby community? Of course, he didn't.
