Shelby photo gallery: Memorial Day parade and observances
Here is a look at Memorial Day observances in Shelby that started with a parade in downtown and continued with a special ceremony at Oakland Cemetery on Monday.

Shelby’s Memorial Day events — organized by the American Legion, O'Brien Post 326 — included:
— the parade that included veterans, community members, Shelby police and fire and other participants such as the Shelby Whippet Band and Scouts, to name just a few.

Leading up to Memorial Day observances, American flags were placed at Oakland Cemetery.



At the cemetery, a special program was planned to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Special wreath-laying, readings and a volley of shots totaling 21 were planned along with honoring veterans who have passed away in the last year.
