Shelby Rotary celebrates student’s many accomplishments
Peyton Murphy was recently recognized as the Student of the Month by the Rotary Club of Shelby.
The Shelby High senior was accompanied by his family at the ceremony, held Dec. 16, where he was praised for both his academic achievements and extracurricular involvement, per the social media update by the Rotary.
During the December Student of the Month event, Murphy expressed gratitude, particularly toward his mother, whom he affectionately described as "the best mom ever."

His stepdad along with grandfather, who Murphy regards as his inspiration, also shared in the celebration in which Shelby Schools Superintendent Michael Browning also was in attendance.
Murphy has a weighted GPA of 3.89, with a declared passion for calculus II.
His academic rigor is balanced by active participation in the school’s music programs, including the Shelby Whippet Band along with the symphonic band, which achieved a superior rating at the state contest.

Beyond the classroom, Murphy has been a Shelby High eSports team member for the past three years, demonstrating versatility and commitment across his high school career.
"Congrats Peyton and best wishes on your bright future!" the Shelby Rotary said in its announcement.
