Shelby's Eve Schwemley hits career milestone on senior night

Shelby High School senior Eve Schwemley achieved a significant volleyball milestone during her team's senior night, reaching 1,000 career digs.
The Shelby Whippet Volleyball program, in a social media post, praised Schwemley's hard work and contribution throughout her high school career, celebrating the achievement accomplished Oct. 10.
Schwemley, a standout on the team, was recognized during the game, marking a highlight in her final season.
In volleyball, a "dig" is defined as a defensive move where a player prevents the ball from hitting the ground after an opponent's attack or spike.
The player typically uses forearms to bump the ball up into the air, allowing the team to keep the rally going and attempt a counterattack. It’s described as a crucial skill in volleyball and requires quick reflexes and proper positioning.
The milestone underscores her defensive skills and consistent performance, bolstering the team's efforts this year.
