A standout athlete for the Shelby Lady Whippets basketball team is making plans to take her game to the next level starting in the fall of 2025.
Shelby's Eve Schwemley will continue her basketball career next year at Ohio Dominican University, Shelby High School's athletics department announced this week.
A signing ceremony for Schwemley was held on Wednesday in the gymnasium at Shelby High School, where she is a senior.

Ohio Dominican, in the Columbus area, is an NCAA Division II school and member of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).
Schwemley is a senior at Shelby, which finished the 2023-24 season at 18-6 and won its sixth straight Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference championship.
As a junior during the 2023-24 season, Schwemley earned special mention recognition on the 2024 Division II Girls Basketball All-Ohio Team. She averaged 14.1 points per game for Shelby. Schwemley also was named first-team All-Northwest District in Ohio's Division II.
Her basketball coach at Shelby is Natalie Lantz, who has led the Lady Whippets to six consecutive Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference titles.
Schwemley is also an accomplished volleyball player. On Oct. 10, she reached 1,000 career digs. In volleyball, a "dig" is defined as a defensive move where a player prevents the ball from hitting the ground after an opponent's attack or spike.
