Shelby's Nic Eyster commits to Heidelberg for college baseball
Nic Eyster, a multisport athlete for the Shelby Whippets, will continue his sports career in college at Heidelberg University, where he plans to play baseball after his 2025 graduation from Shelby High School.
"Excited to announce my commitment to Heidelberg University!" Eyster said this week in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Heidelberg, in Tiffin, is a member of the Ohio Athletic Conference.
In his post, Eyster thanked Heidelberg assistant baseball coach Eric Franc "for being there during the process and everyone else who helped along the way!"
Eyster is a pitcher and also plays third base for Shelby, where he is a senior. The 2025 Shelby baseball season is set to get underway in late March.
As a junior on the Shelby baseball team in 2024, Eyster was named first-team all-Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference for the second consecutive season.
In football, Eyster earned second-team all-MOAC honors this past fall as a member of Shelby’s 12-1 team.
He also plays basketball and is a starter on the Shelby Whippets varsity boys team.
