'Student Spotlight' honors Shelby elementary

The "Student Spotlight" at Monday's Shelby Board of Education meeting featured several honorees for their efforts and accomplishments in their elementary school classrooms.

Those recognized are part of the Grade 3 through Grade 4 pod.

Honored were 3rd grade:

-- Kai Smith-Hogburn

-- Olivia Cains

-- Kelsey Stiving

4th grade:

-- Jessie Moore

5th grade:

-- Sarah Bantz

-- Jaxon Schroeder

Each was introduced by Sue Snyder, an elementary school principal, and had their photos taken by middle school principal Andrew McFarland. Shelby school board member Brad Ream presented certificates to each student.

Shelby Schools Superintendent Brad Ream and school board president Scott Rose offered praise for the students and their families.

Highlighting its significance in Shelby, the "Student Spotlight" is considered a "special business" agenda item by the school board.
