Body found in rural Ohio
A person was found dead on a road in Sycamore Township, prompting a suspicious death investigation by the Wyandot County Sheriff's Office and the Wyandot County Major Crimes Unit, authorities said Wednesday.
On April 22, deputies and Mohawk Fire and EMS crews discovered the male’s body on County Highway 9, east of Township Highway 13, during a response call. The Wyandot County coroner pronounced the unidentified person dead at the scene, authorities said.
"The Wyandot County Sheriff's Office is seeking assistance of the public for information about this incident as authorities have located video surveillance..." a statement from the sheriff's office said.
It shows a light-colored SUV/station wagon seen on surveillance video. It was traveling north on State Route 231 and then turned west onto County Highway 9 at about 11:34 p.m. April 22.
"The vehicle may have front-end damage sustained from this incident," the sheriff's office said.
The cause of death and the identity of the person have not been announced.
