CRAWFORD COUNTY -- A car crashed into a tree on Sunday, killing a 20-year-old motorist, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office reports.
The victim was identified as Constantinos Charles Chavatzas of Bucyrus, authorities said in an update on Monday.
The crash was reported about 3:31 p.m. Sunday along Knauss Road north of State Route 294.
The preliminary investigation indicates that Chavatzas was traveling northbound on Knauss Road in a black 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage when the vehicle went off the west side of the roadway and continued northbound until it struck a tree, the sheriff's office said.
The vehicle came to rest sitting, partially on the pavement on the east side of Knauss Road facing north.
The investigation is continuing.
The sheriff's office was assisted by the Bucyrus Fire Department, Dallas Township Fire Department, the Crawford County Coroner’s Office and Hensley’s Towing.
