Willard pool sets opening date for season
A scheduled opening date is set for Willard's city swimming pool -- June 6, the city government reports.
"The opening will include the addition of Phase 1 of the new splash pad," Willard City Manager Bryson Hamons said in his May 19 report to Willard City Council.

Some more details from Hamons:
-- Discounted pre-season passes for the pool are available for purchase through June 5 at the recreation office or City Hall.
-- Daily admission to the pool is $4, children 2 and under are free with paid admission, adults (55 and older) are permitted free with one paid admission.
-- Discounted punch cards are also available for $30 for 10 daily admissions, which can be used by multiple guests.
Pre-season pool prices:
-- single $50
-- double $70
-- family pass of three or four, $95
-- family pass of five, $110
-- family pass of six, $125
-- family pass of seven, $140
-- family pass of eight, $155
The pool will be open seven days from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Additional features of Phase 2 of the splash pad will be added throughout the summer as the features are finished by the supplier, Hamons said. Phase 2 of the splash pad is made possible through a partnership with the Fisher-Titus Foundation, he noted.
Private pool parties may be scheduled by calling the Park and Recreation office at 419-935-1654.
WILLARD SEEKS LIFEGUARDS
The Willard City Pool is still seeking lifeguards for the upcoming season, Hamons also said.
"Although it is preferred that lifeguards are 16 years of age, the Red Cross will certify a candidate who is 15 years old," he said.
A prerequisite assessment is required for entry into the class, which includes a swim-tread-swim sequence.
"Becoming a lifeguard is a great opportunity to learn life leadership skills for future career development," he said.
Interested candidates should contact the Park and Rec Director at 419-935-1654 for an interview and certification opportunities.
