REPRESENTATIVE JOHN HONORED BY CHILDREN’S HUNGER ALLIANCE
State Rep. Marilyn John, R-Shelby, has been named Legislator of the Year by the Children’s Hunger Alliance for her work supporting food security and nutrition education in Ohio.
In a post with photos published Tuesday on her official Facebook page, John wrote: “It was truly an honor to be recognized by the Children’s Hunger Alliance as Legislator of the Year.”
Around 505,000 children in Ohio live with food insecurity, she noted.
"CHA works to increase the food security and nutrition education across Ohio," Representative John noted, praising the organization’s efforts to provide nourishing meals.
The Menu of Hope special event at the Hyatt Regency Ballroom in Columbus featured Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, childcare providers, state legislators, and Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and the state's first lady, Fran DeWine.
"This year’s Menu of Hope drew a record audience of nearly 800 corporate, government, and community supporters to learn more about CHA’s work throughout the state," organizers said.
Representative John previously served as mayor of Shelby and as a Richland County commissioner. Now in her third term in the Ohio House of Representatives, she is a member of the majority leadership team.

REGIONAL LAW ENFORCEMENT
Loudonville officer treated after potential drug exposure
A Loudonville Police officer was transported to the hospital Sunday evening after showing signs of potential fentanyl exposure, the Loudonville Police Department said in a statement.
The officer was assisting the Loudonville Fire Department on a squad call involving an unresponsive person on April 20. “Immediately after the officer cleared the scene, he began showing signs of fentanyl exposure,” the department said.
Narcan was administered, and the officer was taken to a hospital by the Loudonville Fire Department.
“Accidental fentanyl exposure is a very real danger to both law enforcement and Fire/EMS personnel,” the statement read.
The officer was later discharged and “is doing okay,” the department said.
"We would like to thank the Loudonville Fire Department and the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office for their swift response to help our officer," Loudonville police said.
